The owners of The Insurance Wizard, Jim Alexander and Paul Gillihan, have over 60 years of combined experience in the insurance agency business. They have owned agencies, sold insurance and managed insurance salespeople.

One thing that has always frustrated Jim and Paul is the "informational wall" that the insurance companies have erected between themselves and the consumer. It is very difficult and time consuming for both the insurance agent and the consumer to gather the information necessary to accurately quote an auto insurance policy. They know that the main criteria that effects a consumer's rate is the driving record, claims history and credit rating. While knowing this information is not foolproof, it will substantially increase the consumer's chances of saving money and the insurance agent's likelihood of making a sale. Some agents and companies have more competitive rates for drivers with perfectly clean records while other companies target other types of risks.

The origins of this business go back over 10 years. At that time they formed a telephone service named the Auto Insurance Hotline. Consumers could call 1-800-AUTOINS and answer several questions using their touch tone phones. Based on their answers, they were matched with a local agent who we determined would have competitive rates for them.

TheInsuranceWizards.com is basically an online version of the original phone service. Consumers are asked to complete a very short questionnaire and based on their answers they are matched with an insurance agent in their area who should be able to offer them lower auto insurance rates. Once again, it is not foolproof, but with this head start, consumers can not only save money, but also save time.
